What is the KMP9R?
The KWA KMP9 series is a small, light SMG with an integrated folding stock for a stable shooting platform. Both models have a top rail for optics and a side rail for accessories.
The KMP9R swaps the molded fore grip of the classic KMP9 for a bottom accessory rail, so you can fit a flashlight, laser or removable foregrip. Choose the CQB velocity for indoor games or the Field velocity for outdoor play.

How the KMP9R works
CQB or Field velocity
The KMP9 series is available with a CQB (reduced FPS) bolt at 330–350 FPS or a Field (standard) bolt at 360–390 FPS. Choose the FPS range option when you order.
KWA also made a CQB bolt assembly that swaps in to lower the velocity for indoor CQB games.
Which magazines to use
It comes with one KMP9 Series 48-round magazine, which fits the KMP9 and KMP9R. The TAC-9 48-round magazine also fits the KMP9 series.
Filling a gas SMG magazine
Green gas is stored in the magazine, and each shot uses some of it to fire the BB and cycle the bolt.
- Hold the magazine upside down and the green gas can upside down and vertical.
- Press the can straight down onto the magazine fill valve until it stops taking gas.
- Load BBs, insert the magazine and you are ready.
- Gas cools as you shoot. Let magazines warm up between strings and keep them out of direct sunlight.
Velocity and your field
Fields set velocity limits, often lower indoors than outdoors. Check your field’s rules and confirm your gun at chrono before you play.
Hop-up, explained
Hop-up puts backspin on the BB so it lifts and flies flatter and farther. Too little and BBs drop early. Too much and they climb.
- Start with the hop-up at its lowest setting.
- Fire a few shots at a target at your usual distance.
- Add a little hop at a time until BBs fly flat before they drop.
- Back it off if BBs start to rise. Re-check whenever you change BB weight.
