How the QRF Mod 2 works
Adjusting FPS with VPS
The Variable Performance System changes power at the gearbox. On the Mod 2 you adjust it with the included VPS tool, within 330–370 FPS.
Fields set velocity limits, often lower indoors than outdoors. Set the rifle for the field you are playing and confirm it at chrono.
Which magazines to use
The Mod 2 runs QRF Mod 2 120-round magazines. One is included, and 3-packs are sold separately.
It also takes TK.45 series magazines: the TK.45 120-round and the TK.45 / Iris 80-round.
Ready for an ETU upgrade
The QRF gearbox is drop-in ready for popular electronic trigger units (ETUs), so an upgrade needs no gearbox modification.
An ETU or MOSFET opens up more fire-control customization whenever you want it.
Choosing a battery
The battery and charger are not included. This rifle takes NiMH or Li-Po/Li-Fe batteries with a Tamiya connector (2020 version).
Match the connector, check that the battery fits the stock or battery space, and charge it only with a charger made for that battery type. Ask KWA if you are not sure which size fits.
Tool-less hop-up, explained
Hop-up puts backspin on the BB so it lifts and flies flatter and farther. Too little and BBs drop early. Too much and they climb.
On the QRF, the hop-up adjusts by hand, with no tools, so you can fine-tune backspin for any BB weight.
- Start with the hop-up at its lowest setting.
- Fire a few shots at a target at your usual distance.
- Add a little hop at a time until BBs fly flat before they drop.
- Back it off if BBs start to rise. Re-check whenever you change BB weight.
QRF Mod 1 vs Mod 2 vs Mod 3
All three share the AEG Variable gearbox with VPS, a tool-less hop-up, a drop-in ready gearbox, PTS flip-up sights and grip, and an M-LOK rail.
