How the 1911 MK IV Black works
Training with the MK IV
The MK IV is designed as a training pistol. It fits a wide range of holsters, and the Picatinny rail takes the light or laser you train with.
Front and rear serrations give you a secure grip to rack the slide, and the three-dot combat sights help you get on target quickly.
Filling a green gas magazine
Green gas is stored in the magazine, and each shot uses some of it to fire the BB and cycle the slide.
- Hold the magazine upside down and the green gas can upside down and vertical.
- Press the can straight down onto the magazine fill valve until it stops taking gas.
- Load BBs, insert the magazine and you are ready.
- Gas cools as you shoot. Let magazines warm up between strings and keep them out of direct sunlight.
Which BBs to use
KWA recommends 0.20g or 0.25g BBs with its gas blowback pistols. Use quality, seamless 6mm BBs, such as KWA 0.20g Bio BBs or KWA 0.25g Bio BBs.
Change the hop-up whenever you change BB weight.
Hop-up, explained
Hop-up puts backspin on the BB so it lifts and flies flatter and farther. Too little and BBs drop early. Too much and they climb.
- Start with the hop-up at its lowest setting.
- Fire a few shots at a target at your usual distance.
- Add a little hop at a time until BBs fly flat before they drop.
- Back it off if BBs start to rise. Re-check whenever you change BB weight.
1911 MK IV PTP: Black vs OD Green
Both are the 1911 MK IV PTP with the same listed specs and the same 21-round magazine. The finish is the difference.
1911 MK IV Black care and parts
- Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine seals now and then to keep them sealing well.
- Store gas magazines in a cool, dry place and never in direct sunlight or a hot car.
- Check feed lips and seals before each game, and do not drop magazines on hard surfaces.
- Wipe the gun down after each game and keep the inner barrel and hop-up bucking clean.
- Use silicone oil only. Avoid petroleum lubricants on seals and rubber parts.
